Does your child have a difficult time perceiving others and their environment?
Does your teen have difficulty with attention in class?
Does your loved one have difficulty recalling important words and details?
Song Sparrow Can help— Here’s how
Song Sparrow not only prioritizes a personalized approach to symptoms of communication difficulties, we dive deep to the root issue.
Our process begins by observing clients’ executive functioning skills. Executive functioning skills include the cognitive processes such as perception, attention, planning, organization, time management, emotional regulation, and decision-making.
When these skills are impacted, it affects speech, language, and generalizations of skills. Executive functioning skills help our children and adults read, process visual and verbal information, complete homework, recall details, learn new skills, and redirect themselves when specific tasks require more planning, attention and time.
At Song Sparrow, our clients develop essential academic skills, improve social interactions, and achieve their personal goals.
If you’re looking for effective speech therapy that dives deeper, contact us today to start your journey with Song Sparrow.

song Sparrow Specializes in the following
-
A speech therapist focuses on improving communication by building a client’s confidence and normalizing their stutter. Techniques used in therapy focus on decreasing muscle tension while also working towards desensitizing negative emotions related to stuttering.
-
Therapy includes the speech therapist guiding placement and motor-planning to improve clarity for a client with an articulation disorder, phonological process disorder, or childhood apraxia of speech by teaching clients how to produce sounds correctly. This can lead to improved communication skills, greater self-confidence, and increased success in social and academic settings.
-
Therapy can help people with aphasia (Wernicke’s, Broca’s, and global) improve their communication skills. It can help them use their stronger language abilities, restore some of those abilities, and learn new ways to communicate. Therapy can be individualized to address a person's specific needs.
-
Augmentative and Alternative Communication refers to all of the ways that someone of any age communicates besides the use of verbal expression or speech. People of all ages can use AAC if they have trouble with speech or language skills. Some people use AAC throughout their life. Others may use AAC only for a short time, for example when they have surgery and can’t talk or have severely delayed expression.
-
A speech therapist can help individuals use strategies when their memory, judgement, and ability to initiate and effectively communicate needs is impacted. Potential consequences/impact of cognitive-communication impairment can include reduced awareness, reduced memory, difficulty performing personal lifestyle, reduced social communication skills, and reduced ability to problem solve.
-
Therapy addresses a variety of skills including letter identification, phonological awareness, reading, handwriting, spelling, and reading comprehension. Individuals may benefit from literacy therapy if they have difficulty reading, learning letters, sounding out words, communicating ideas through writing, and/or forming letters correctly.
-
Thorough assessments are conducted to identify a client's specific areas of needs, covering aspects such as speech, phonological processing, language, visual imagery, symbol processing, and executive functions. These evaluations incorporate firsthand observation and standardized testing. We recognize that the client is more than just a test score. Therefore, we combine observations, feedback from parents, caregivers, and teachers, along with standardized assessments, to develop a comprehensive and personalized profile for the client.
